Sewer ownership (30-8-2011)
Property owners in the village should have received a letter from Anglian Water giving “Notice of proposal to adopt sewers and lateral drains” together with an explanatory leaflet about how sewer ownership is changing from 1st October. At present, if there is a blockage on any sewer or drain outside the boundary of your property, but connecting to the main sewer, you are responsible for sorting it out. From October, Anglian will have that responsibility. You will still have responsibility for pipes within your boundary. You can take out insurance against these costs. The parish council recommend you get at least two quotes for such insurance as the market is very competitive. More details will be published in the autumn edition of the parish council newsletter which will be issued at the beginning of September.

New survey – Affordable Housing (22-6-2011)
The Parish Council is currently conducting a housing survey of all residents to up-date our information on current requirements in the village for affordable housing. The Milton Malsor Parish Plan of 2005 identified the need for affordable housing in the parish, and in 2006 South Northamptonshire Council, in partnership with Milton Malsor Parish Council, carried out a housing needs survey to which 44% of residents responded – a good response. This identified the need for six homes with various configurations. For rent: two 2-bedroom flats, two 2-bedroom houses and a 3-bedroom house. For shared ownership: a two-bedroom house.
Following the findings of this survey, South Northamptonshire Council has now identified a site within the parish which the landowner is prepared to sell. However, as five years has now elapsed since the original survey, a fresh survey needs to be carried out in order to ensure that current requirements for affordable housing are accounted for in the planning process. It is very important that the current needs and requirements for affordable housing are clearly understood. Together with South Northants Council, we are therefore about to carry out another survey of all residents over the next few weeks. Please do take the time to complete the survey, which will be delivered shortly, and return it in the pre-paid envelope provided as soon as possible – whatever your circumstances. All replies are strictly confidential and should be returned by 8 July. Should you have any questions regarding the survey, please contact Gillian Spencer at South Northants Council on 01327 322372 or email: [email protected]
If you have not received a survey by Sunday 26th June please contact any member of the parish council as the parish office is closed until 1 July.

Stockwell Way Proposed Housing Development - It’s NOT Going To Happen! (23-2-2011)
In our previous newsletters we reported on the planning application South Northants Council received for the development of 25 residential dwellings on land outside the village confines off Stockwell Way. The Parish Council and over 200 residents wrote strongly objecting to this proposal. SNC refused planning permission in support of its own policies. The applicant then lodged an appeal to the Secretary of State against this decision. Having considered all the evidence the Inspector has now dismissed this appeal, so this means the proposed housing development for 25 dwellings is not going to happen. Full details are in the Inspector’s report of 21 February 2011.
A circular informing residents of the appeal dismissal is being distributed with the spring Parish Council Newsletter.
This is a resounding victory and one which sends out a strong message to developers who have intentions of concreting over our village and the surrounding countryside. The Parish Council is committed to strongly opposing unwanted and unnecessary developments being imposed in our village and the damage that they would cause to our community. We look forward to continuing our every day lives in Milton Malsor, where we are all privileged to live, without the threat of unnecessary housing developments being imposed on us.
