Parliamentary Constituency
Milton Malsor is currently a part of Northampton South Constituency. Our current MP is Mr Brian Binley, Conservative, elected at the 2005 General Election.
A new constituency, South Northamptonshire (in addition to Northampton South), was added by the Boundary Commission in a recent review. The boundaries of several constituencies were redrawn as a result. Milton Malsor was originally placed in South Northamptonshire Constituency. The new constituencies will be in effect for the next General Election.
Following a review and Public Inquiry, the Boundary Commission decided to move our Parish from
South Northamptonshire Constituency to Daventry Constituency. The decision was published on 3
April 2008. As the Parish is part of the South Northants Council’s Grange Ward, this change
was deemed sensible from an administrative point of view. It means that Milton joins the parishes
of Gayton, Rothersthorpe, Kislingbury and Harpole, which make up the rest of Grange Ward, and which
are already in Daventry Constituency, as defined in the original proposal published in 2007. The
Boundary Commission report states there was little
or no support for the counter-proposal [to remain in South Northamptonshire Constituency] from the
people in Milton Malsor
. It is understood that Mr Tim Boswell, the current MP for Daventry,
will be standing down at the next General Election, which must take place by 2010. More details
about Daventry Constituency with the new boundary are available at the
UK Polling Report web site
which has details of the likely candidates.
